LXRY! HOTELS IN

ICELAND

Hitting headlines, topping bucket lists, wooing nature lovers, and dazzling increasing numbers of visitors – there seems no end to the talents of this breathtaking northern destination.

It’s the power of Icelandic nature to turn prosaic into the extraordinary. A dip in a pool becomes a soak in a geothermal lagoon; a casual stroll can transform into a trek across a glittering glacier; and a quiet night of camping may mean front-row seats to the aurora borealis’ curtains of light, or the soft, pinkish hue of the midnight sun. Iceland has a transformative effect on people too – its sagas turned brutes into poets, and its stories of huldufólk (hidden people) may make believers out of skeptics. Here you’ll find some of the world’s highest concentrations of dreamers, authors, artists, and musicians, all fuelled by their surroundings.

our LXRY! hotel selection

We have some criteria before we can call a hotel a LXRY! Selection Hotel. We want to be surprised, we need luxury and hospitality at a high level, we love the quality of food and the rooms, we think the location is super important, and….we want to memorize the hotel for a lifetime! So you will not find basic chain hotels that look similar in all countries but truly found local gems that are different and memorable.

Iceland - Ólafsfjörður

Custom made powerful experiences that impact the people that impact the world

The Fljót Valley in northern Iceland is a gateway for adventures ranging from mountain biking to sea kayaking. Located on a converted sheep farm, Deplar Farm blends into the natural landscape with its black timber cladding and grass-sodded roof, and the floor-to-ceiling windows around the property that embrace the surrounding peaks.

Iceland’s midnight sun means long summer days and endless opportunities for outdoor activities including prime-time fly fishing, hiking, horseback riding, and more. We, at Eleven Experience, have access to some of the most exclusive rivers in Iceland. The Fljótaá, a world-class Atlantic salmon and Arctic char river, is in their backyard.

Further away, they have two cabins along our eight-mile stretch of the two-rod Hölkna River so guests can overnight steps from the fishery. Back at the lodge, many guests choose to spend entire days in the spa, hopping from the geothermal-heated outdoor pool to the hot tub.

In Iceland, sheep outnumber humans by more than 2:1. Although this is true, this does not suppress the importance we put on the health and safety of guests and employees. Deplar Farm is intimate in size and freestanding by design and is designed to get our guests out to explore the abundant and breathtaking landscapes that surround the lodge.

Decked out in sheepskin, Moroccan wools, and textured walls, Deplar Farm’s 13 bedrooms are a cozy contrast to the raw landscape outside. Grettir, the master bedroom, has a mezzanine loft with a spacious seating area. The four gallery suites all have mezzanine-style lofts with hammocks and day beds for lounging or additional guests.

Iceland - Mosfellsbær

Sleeping Under the Stars

Amazing sunsets, sunrises, and stargazing and with a bit of luck watching northern lights dancing above you all from the comfort of your warm bed, no need to go outside and freeze.

Scandinavian glass cabin igloo in Viking style with that little extra bit of luxury. Wonderful scenery and panorama views out of your super comfortable bed or private hot tub.

The owners are a young family in Reykjavík (originally from Switzerland and Germany) who had the idea to create an absolutely unique and romantic getaway together in Iceland where it is possible to watch the northern lights and the midnight sun right out of the comfort of your bed or private hot tub.

That’s why they designed the Panorama Glass Lodges. The houses were the first in Iceland where it is possible to sleep under a glass ceiling.

The most important point was for guests to have an amazing, comfortable, and unforgettable experience with enough privacy in the spectacular Icelandic scenery. Therefore they decided to build just a few houses on a huge piece of land instead of many houses on a tiny piece of land to avoid the feeling of staying in a resort.

Even though the cabins are out in nature, guests can still enjoy luxury, high-quality standards, and extraordinary design.

The shape of the Lodges is inspired by Scandinavian houses and the combination of wooden elements with steel and glass makes the Lodges unique. The interior is completely custom made whereby high value was placed on the details.

The property is not staffed and there is no reception on site.
